2025 Pagani Huayra R Evo First Look Review: Open-Top Huayra R-Evolution

Pagani recently revealed its most powerful drop-top, the Imola Roadster, as an evolution of the Huayra Roadster BC and the extreme Huayra R. Who would've thought that the iconic automaker had more up its sleeve in the open-top hypercar market? You see, owning a Pagani isn't just a matter of a slip of paper; owning a Pagani gives you entrance into the Arte in Pista world - an exclusive program of events for Pagani hypercar owners to unleash their toys. This program has been such a success that the automaker felt the need to create something even more special to succeed the Huayra R. Inspired by Indy Car racing and the historic Le Mans vehicles of half a century ago, Pagani has spent the last few years perfecting a roofless speedster of a different kind. Enter the 2025 Pagani Huayra R Evo, an evolution of the Huayra R with 888 horsepower.

When Is The 2025 Pagani Huayra R Evo Coming Out?

There's no word on an official release date for the Pagani Huayra R Evo, nor do we know what the production numbers will be, but seeing them in the wild in 2025 seems most likely. How many will come to the USA remains to be seen.

2025 Pagani Huayra R Evo Estimated Price and Competition

Asking what the price of the 2025 Pagani Huayra R Evo is, is like trying to get a glimpse of the interior - only a select few will have the privilege of really knowing the answer. We also don't know how many examples will be made - the Huayra R was limited to 30 units and priced upward of $3 million (when converted from Euros at launch). Press materials stipulate that the new Pagani Huayra R Evo hypercar places the focus on the exclusive club of track-hypercar owners, so it's likely these models will be highly exclusive and only available to a small group of people.

Rivals to the 2025 Huayra R Evo include such special track-only editions as the near 1,000-hp Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro and the GMA T.50s. The latter also has a V12 but makes "only" 762 hp and it looks a little tamer than the Huayra R Evo and the Valkyrie AMR Pro - from the front, at least. The Gordon Murray Automotive's signature center-mounted fan at the rear identifies this car for what it is, however. The MSRP of these exclusive track specials remains up in the air.

New Pagani Huayra R Evo Exterior and Colors

Pagani automobiles are never boring to look at, and while the automaker says it tried to conceive a 'beautiful' Pagani with harmonious lines, the aggressive aero kit, massive wing, and long-tail design show off the Huayra R Evo's race-car DNA. The 'codalunga' treatment sees the rear extended by around 7.5 inches and is a throwback to the length of Le Mans cars of the 60s and 70s - and the long-tail design has major benefits for being able to handle higher aerodynamic loads.

Class A carbon fiber, which was developed specifically for the Utopia, is used extensively, and it enhances the visual appeal of the car while adding to the structural performance - the automaker says it contributes to a 38% increase in stiffness while keeping weight low.

Recognizable by its distinctive stalked exterior mirrors, the Pagani Huayra R Evo also boasts a massive front splitter, aggressive fins, large air intakes along the side, and a roof-mounted scoop. All this kit helps to increase downforce by as much as 45%. The car's 'drop-top' status comes courtesy of two removable roof panels, and taking these off results in no aerodynamic penalty - in fact, it increases front and rear vertical load, boosting downforce by an additional 5%.

The aero-focused front end has a system of air ducts integrated into the splitter, which extends forward by around four inches, which distributes the air to cool the brakes, calipers, and radiator. There is a double row of flicks on the hood to add to the aero load on the front axle which aids control during cornering. Large intakes along the side help to disperse air and heat from the front wheel arches toward the rear engine compartment.

At the back, the extensive rear end supports a new central stabilizing fin and wing struts. There is also a rear extractor to streamline airflow at the back. Four exhaust outlets are mounted centrally, as is expected. Forged aluminum alloy wheels are standard, with 19-inch items in front and 20s at the rear. These are wrapped in bespoke Pirelli P Zero Slick rubber developed on a new compound and available in Dry and Wet versions.

There's no telling what colors the Pagani Huayra R Evo will be available in, but from the press materials, it's clear that owners will likely be able to customize their hypercars to the nth degree. Images below show some striking combinations.

Pagani Huayra R Evo Dimensions

Barring a 109.9-inch wheelbase, the dimensions of the Pagani Huayra R Evo show it's larger in all metrics than the Huayra R it replaces. With a length of 203.9 inches, it's around 11 inches longer than the Huayra R. Width comes in at 81.77 inches and it hugs the ground much closer at 45.83 inches in height.

The carmaker quotes a dry weight figure of just 2,336.94 lbs - around 23 lbs heavier than the Huayra R.

Pagani Huayra R Evo Engine and Performance

Stunning design aside, the mechanical heart of any Pagani is arguably its party piece. And, in this case, Pagani's collaboration with HWA AG (the company responsible for the V12 in the Apollo IE) yields an incredible result: the 6.0-liter V12-R Evo engine in the 2025 Pagani Huayra R Evo delivers 888 hp at 8,750 rpm and a maximum of 568 lb-ft of torque between 5,800 and 8,200 rpm - this is more horsepower, more torque, and higher rpm than the Huayra R. Redline is at 9,200 rpm.

To achieve these specs, the engine received an optimized intake manifold with a new design and a new camshaft. The exhaust system has been tuned to deliver a unique sound, and the naturally aspirated V12 will 'sing' as readily as its predecessor.

Power is channeled to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox, which boasts reduced shift times and promises precise shifts. While no 0-60 times have been claimed, we'd wager the Huayra R Evo will get the job done in under three seconds - top speed is only achieved when the needle indicates 218 mh.

Pagani has also revised the suspension to improve stability and precision, courtesy of a new heave damper system. Braking has also been optimized with brand-new CCM-R self-ventilated carbon ceramic discs paired with bespoke brake pads. Improvements to the braking system by means of increased surface area result in improved durability.

Estimated Gas Mileage

Paganis aren't designed with fuel economy in mind - they're built to be thrown around a track, so gas mileage figures hardly matter. With a screaming V12 - and despite a lightweight design - it wouldn't surprise us if the resulting mpg figures for the Pagani Huayra R Evo were in the single-digit category.

Pagani Huayra R Evo Interior and Cargo

The biggest mystery about cars from the Pagani stable isn't how much they cost or how wealthy you have to be to afford one - but what it looks like inside certainly remains a secret. The automaker says the interior of the Pagani Huayra R Evo hosts a co*ckpit that's inspired by the most innovative applications in motorsport with a focus on safety.

As such, the structure of the two seats and headrests are derived from the latest tech in advanced composite materials like Carbo-Titanium and Carbo-Triax, and both seats are fitted with a six-point harness. While we don't know what materials and colors to expect inside the Pagani Huayra R Evo, we know that whatever upholstery is used, the seats are covered in fireproof material. The seats get special padding to promote the ideal driving position, and the padding even adjusts to the shape of the occupants.

The co*ckpit is also designed to promote full frontal visibility, although the manufacturer says there's an 'uncommon elegance' found inside the Huayra R Evo - the interior roof structure shows an artistic interplay of lines within the roof structure. And, to further underscore the exclusivity and the extent to which the car can be customized, Pagani will configure your Huayra R Evo in either left-hand or right-hand drive.

Cargo space isn't something we should even be discussing on a car like the Pagani Huayra R Evo, but suffice it to say, that there's no traditional trunk space for stowing things. You shouldn't be carting things around to the track, anyway.
