Tutorial : Herringbone Bracelet #1
Level : Intermediate
Technique : Flat Herringbone, Ladder Stitch
Equipment
- Miyuki Delica 11/0
- Swarovski bicone 4mm.
- Nymo or your favorite beading thread. In my case, I use SoNo
- Beading needle.
If you know how to weave with herringbone technique, this bracelet is a yummy piece of cake.
And I don't cover how to make the beading toggle here. It will be very long tutorial. Maybe I will do it later.
The design is from the foreign book called 'Rocca #7'. I got the scan from Picasa Web Album.
1.
We start the bracelet with ladder stitch. Actually you can start with herringbone or any style as your wish.
On the comfortable length of thread, pick up four delica beads. Sew back to the first two beads (red arrow).
2.
Sew to the next two beads (red arrow). Pick up two delica beads. Sew back to the previous two beads (red arrow) and then the two beads we just added (blue arrow).
3.
Repeat step 1 & 2. Made it 14 columns.
4.
Sew to the next bead in the adjacent column (red arrow). And sew to the last bead of the next row (blue arrow).
5.
We begin with herringbone stitch from now on. Pick up two delica beads and sew to the next bead (red arrow).
6.
We will leave space here to add crystal later so we skip adding new delica beads. Just sew to the next two beads (red and blue arrrow).
7.
Sew to the next bead (red arrow). Pick up two new delica beads and sew to the next bead (blue arrow).
8.
Repeat step 6 & 7 for the entire row. Your thread will exit at the red arrow. Pick up one delica bead and sew to the first bead of the next row (blue arrow).
9.
Pick up two delica beads and sew to the next two beads. Your thread should exit at the red arrow.
10.
Sew to the next beads (red arrow and blue arrow) and up to the two beads at the green arrow. Pick up two new delica beads (yellow arrows) and sew to the next two beads (pink arrow).
Repeat step 10 for the entire row.
11.
At the end of the row, you exit the thread at the red arrow. Pick up new delica bead and sew to the last bead of the next row (blue arrow).
12.
Pick up two delica beads and sew to the next bead (red arrow).
13.
Pick up 4mm crystal and sew to the bead of the next column (red arrow). Pick up two delica beads (blue arrows) and sew to the next bead (green arrow).
14.
Repeat step 13 to the entire row. You should exit the thread at the red arrow.
15.

16.
I'm sorry for the wrong focus picture.

I'm sorry I forgot to take the photo how to end the bracelet. I end it with ladder stitch the same way we start.
And also for toggle. I think I will cover them later in the new tutorial for bead clasps.
Happy Beading!
