Overview
The Division of General Academic Pediatrics is dedicated to the health and well being of area children. We offer a medical home to those who are underserved, uninsured or receiving Medicaid benefits, as well as those who require complex care.
We treat children of all ages and offer a full range of primary care services including:
Health literacy
Health screenings
Immunizations
Interpreters
Lab
Lactation consultation
Pharmacy
Radiology
Respiratory therapy
Social work
Wellness care with anticipatory guidance
Diagnosis and treatment of common conditions, including minor behavioral problems, such as temper tantrums and toilet training issues
Medical Assistants provide basic, uncomplicated patient care and assist with unit/department operations under direct supervision of a physician, APRN, PA, or RN. Assignment of job responsibilities are delegated by the medical provider, RN, Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager or Resource Manager assigned to supervise the Care Assistant and in accordance with this job description.

Responsibilities
- Provides supportive patient care.
- Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment and promotes efficient and safe operations.
- Performs clerical functions.
- Attends education programs, unit meetings and assigned committees.
- Shares responsibility for teaching and orientation of new personnel (within own skill level).
Qualifications
- HS diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years experience 1 year of experience in patient or customer facing roles
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- One of the following required upon hire:
- National Certified Medical Assistant
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Registered Medical Assistant
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
- Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)- certification by National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
- BLS certification Required Upon Hire
Starting Pay
Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $18.92/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.
Remote Work/Work from Home
This position is not eligible work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
